Map shows the largest religion for each of the world’s nations. Christianity is the world’s largest and most widespread religion with 2.3 billion followers. It is the largest religion for about 69 percent of the world’s nations, has a majority presence in about 65 percent of the nations, and has a presence in at least 97 percent of the nations.

Notes: The World Factbook, 2022 edition, identifies 235 entities, including countries and other identifiable areas. An analysis of the World Factbook data shows that Christianity is the largest religion for 163 countries (69 percent). Christianity is the majority religion, meaning at least 50 percent of the population, for 152 countries (65 percent). Christianity is present in virtually every country (at least 97 percent).
